ISO 17024 – Personnel Certification Bodies Accreditation : Conformity Assessment - is an international standard which defines criteria for Personnel Certification Bodies Operations. It was first published in 2003 and most recent modifications were made in July, 2012.

"The IAF is the world association of Conformity Assessment Accreditation Bodies and other bodies interested in conformity assessment in the fields of management systems, products, services, personnel and other similar programmes. Its primary function is to develop a single worldwide program which reduces risk for business and its customers by assuring them that accredited certificates may be relied upon. Accreditation assures users of the competence and impartiality of the body accredited."

ISO/IEC 17024:2012 : Conformity Assessment – General requirements for bodies operating certification of persons, provides a global benchmark for personnel certification programmes to ensure that they operate in a consistent, comparable and reliable manner worldwide, thereby allowing individuals to have skills that translate across national lines.

The updated ISO 17024 (ISO/IEC 17024:2012) standard will help organizations that certify individuals in a variety of occupations and professions protect the integrity and ensure the validity of individual certification programmes. It will also promote consumer and public confidence in the capabilities and competence of the people who provide specialized services or who create the products that support our daily lives and livelihoods.
